Unlike this super-cute fox, I would never voluntarily seek out a hug. To me, hugging has always been this alien ritual: awkward, slightly unpleasant in the manner of a damp handshake, and best avoided.

Heh, isilya has invented this thing she calls the 'introvert hug', where we shrug our shoulders at each other from a distance of 3 feet. Waving also works, though!

Have you seen any of the Aliens series? *g* That ain't a hug in the comic, it's a facehugger. The stuff of many, many of my childhood nightmares.

Yep, I too have people I do hug, although my list is a little more limited: exactly one person (spouse) *g*.
