I still haven't read as widely as I'd like, but a quick handful of recs in no particular order:

The Frame of Things (4564 words) by Anonymous
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Macbeth - Shakespeare
Rating: General Audiences
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Lady Macbeth, Original Female Character, Duncan (Macbeth)
Summary: Though she was the perfect distillation of the stage--all machinery and no depth--she had something like a heart, if a heart was the metaphor for a hidden spring of constancy and desire. Lady's hidden spring was always hungry.

Is there any canon that can't be improved with the addition of robots? This is one of my absolute favourites-- clever, erudite, chilling, gorgeously written. An amazing short story that would've been totally publishable-- I'm so glad we got gifted it for Yuletide!

ITCC (2095 words) by Anonymous
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: City & the City - China Mieville
Rating: General Audiences
Warning: Author Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings, No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Tyador Borlu, Original Female Character, Original Male Character
Summary: "In most cases, cities that grow into each other's space in this way lose their individual identities, and whatever border or barrier still separates them becomes irrelevant as they fuse into one new city." ~Wikipedia

Ahahaha, oh, the international conference. The details are perfect, and there are some great observations about the nature of cities and the physical and psychic divisions therein.

On Solitude (15123 words) by Anonymous
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Aubrey-Maturin Series - Patrick O'Brian
Rating: General Audiences
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Jack Aubrey/Stephen Maturin
Characters: Jack Aubrey, Stephen Maturin, Preserved Killick, Barrett Bonden
Summary: Jack and Stephen accidentally become telepathically bonded, but Stephen still has to complete his mission in Minorca.

I feel like this one has a flashing sticker on it advertising the name of its author *g*. I think I liked this one so much because it doesn't sugarcoat the horrific nature of having someone else invade your brain. I felt so strongly for Stephen's discomfort, even as I was amused that Jack was-- well, Jack. Pitch-perfect style, hilarious dialogue and observations, and a great plot.

For Love or Money (10937 words) by Anonymous
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Pushing Daisies
Rating: General Audiences
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Charlotte Charles/Ned
Characters: Ned (Pushing Daisies), Charlotte, Emerson Cod, Olive Snook
Summary: Little Daisy Darling (salesperson of the month and Olive Snook Look-alike) seemed to be in love with her boss, Huge Hugh McGrew, a very dead ringer for Emerson Cod. But Hugh was in love with his wife, the equally plus-sized Rustie McGrew. When Huge Hugh finds himself with a cord around his neck and three holes in his chest, Miss Daisy is the prime suspect.

So perfect in style that it could've been an episode, particularly the flashback that opens it. Loved it, and it made me totally nostalgic for the show.

Meanwhile, in Universe #364b (4712 words) by Anonymous
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: xkcd 1110 (Click and Drag)
Rating: General Audiences
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Lemonade Stand Guy/Person in Underground Cave
Characters: Plane Surfing Gal, Icarus (xkcd 1110), Lemonade Stand Guy, Person in underground cave, Trio Tumbling Through Tunnel, Tall Ship Crew, Whales - Character
Summary: There's a universe laid out before you -- before all of you. What are you going to do with it?

My favourite of the xkcd stories. Whimsical, detailed, surreal, imaginative, and genuinely touching. Part 6 just makes my heart sing.

That Untravelled World (1105 words) by Anonymous
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Casino Royale (2006), James Bond (Movies), Skyfall (2012)
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: James Bond, M (James Bond), Female M (James Bond), Q (James Bond), Eve Moneypenny, Gareth Mallory
Summary: Every Christmas, they each have their own lies to tell. Post-Skyfall, so spoilers!

A bit of a much-needed fix-it to Skyfall, nicely done.
